Ticket stub from a doubleheader played at Comiskey Park in Chicago between the Cleveland Indians and White Sox on 8/15/1948.  It was the year the Indians would win the World Series for the last time.

The Indians won both games, 6-2 and 8-0.

5 Hall of Famers appeared in each game.  Lou Boudreau, who was also the Cleveland manager, Joe Gordon, Larry Doby, and Luke Appling were in both games.  The 5th Hall of Famer was the Cleveland pitcher, Bob Feller in game 1, and Bob Lemon in game 2.

In game 1, Feller pitched a complete game for the win.  Player-manager Boudreau had 4 hits, scored once, and drove in 1.  Doby had 3 hits and 3 RBI.  Gordon scored a run.  Cleveland had 12 hits total and they were all by only 4 players with Dale Mitchell having 3 hits and Jim Hegan having the other 2.  Luke Appling had 2 hits and a run scored for the White Sox.

In game 2, Lemon pitched a complete game shutout for the win.  He also had a base hit.  Boudreau had 3 hits, scored twice, and drove in 2, ending up with 7 hits for the day.   Doby had a hit and RBI.  Gordon had a hit.  Jim Hegan doubled 3 times.  Luke Appling had a hit.

Sweeping the doubleheader was crucial for the Indians to winning the World Series, as was any of their wins that season, as they ended the season tied with Red Sox and had to win a one game playoff to advance to the World Series.
