Description
This is a large vintage Inuit carving of an eskimo hunter catching a walrus weighing well over 2 kilos (nearly 5lb) and measuring about 9 inches in length.
The superbly crafted sculpture feature the hunter pulling on his line with his catch of a whiskered walrus being pulled from the water.
The sculpture is clearly marked to the base 'ᓴᐃᓚᓯ ᑐᑲᐃ' which I believe is translated to Sailasi Tukai (please correct me if I amwrong!) with '5-10819' plus the date 1981.
The beautiful carving measures 9 inches (23cm) long and stands 5.5 inches (14cm) high.
Please see my other rare Inuit carvings listed.
