Gorgeous, vintage Blenko hand blown art glass vase by glass blower Wayne Husted, in a beautiful shade of amethyst  - the photos don't do it justice!  It measures 14" in height, with a 1" diameter opening at the top and a 3" base.  It is in excellent used condition, almost mint, except for one tiny "flea bite" (see photo #7).  There is a "pontil" on the bottom, which indicates that the piece was blown free hand.  This is quite a heavy piece, weighing 1 pound, 7 ounces!  The form of this piece is shown on page 81 in the Blenko book by Leslie Pina.  It is a lovely, mid century modern art glass design vase and highly collectible!

Wayne Husted was Blenko's most prolific artistic director, from 1952 - 1963, producing more than 600 designs during his tenure.  Though best known for his work at Blenko, Wayne spent over 60 years designing  after he left the company.  He established Wayne Husted design in the San Francisco Bay area in 1972.  Many of Husted's pieces are included in museum collections and sought after by private collectors nationwide.  His pieces can be found at auction houses such as 1stDibs, Ruby Lane, Chairish and Mercari for hundreds of dollars.
