■Fully balanced non-feedback discrete phono equalizer

The biggest advantage of non-feedback amplifiers is the excellent transient response obtained by extending the high range without limit. And, with an analog source that is basically not subject to band limitations, non-feedback amplifiers can demonstrate their true value even further. The E-1 follows the circuit configuration and parts of the legendary phono equalizer "ph1.0", but has been created by further refining the details. By inserting a RIAA element into the load of the voltage amplification circuit, we have adopted a unique circuit system in which the gain itself becomes a RIAA characteristic. This eliminates both of the drawbacks of the NF type, and achieves uniform quality over the entire frequency band over 100kHz. In addition, we have newly adopted a 1% accuracy MELF resistor and a 2% accuracy polypropylene film capacitor for the CR parts used, ensuring perfect curve characteristics. As a result, the spirit of ph1.0 remains intact, while the transparent atmosphere, amount of information, and sound reality have been significantly improved.

 

■Fully balanced input circuit adopted (when inputting MC)

It also supports balanced input from cartridges. An operation selector switch is provided on the rear panel, and an XLR terminal is provided for balanced input. When using a balanced input using an XLR 2-core shielded cable, it becomes a completely balanced non-feedback phono equalizer from input to output. The effect is overwhelming, the sound field is expanded in three dimensions, and fine nuances resonate more directly in your heart.

[Note] Balanced reception is also possible with the RCA input terminal by setting the operation selector switch to balanced, but in this case it is non-shielded, so noise may occur. Be sure to use an XLR 2-core shielded cable. Also, the operation selector switch is not an input selection switch. In order to prioritize sound quality, "RCA terminal HOT and XLR terminal pin 2" and "RCA terminal COLD (GND) and XLR terminal pin 3" are connected internally. Therefore, it is not possible to connect two record players to the RCA and XLR terminals and switch between them. *The product is unbalanced (NORMAL) when shipped.

■MM input function

By pressing the MM switch, you can use MM cartridges and MC step-up transformers.

 

■Low frequency cut function (subsonic filter)

If the woofer moves more than necessary due to warping of records, etc., you can reduce this by turning on the low-cut switch.

 

■Balanced output

A fully balanced non-feedback buffer amplifier that can even drive speakers provides a powerful balanced output. In addition, like other SOULNOTE devices, the unbalanced output is only output from the HOT side of the balanced output.

 

■Toroidal power transformer & non-return power supply

Introducing a 260VA toroidal transformer with the same specifications as the integrated amplifier A-1. The fast recovery diode and 1000μF filter capacitor in parallel, together with the non-return power supply provided by the Darlington ripple filter circuit, support the sense of inexhaustible air.

 

■Direct mechanical earth construction

By mounting the spike pins directly below the center of gravity of the transformer, the harmful vibrations of the transformer do not interfere with the entire casing, and are directly eliminated from the casing. This makes it possible to achieve both lively musical expression and high S/N.

 

■Equipped with metal standard insulator (at time of shipment)

The plastic insulator that was previously standard has been abolished, and a metal insulator with a focus on sound quality has been adopted.
