The weights are 1 1/2" in diameter and will fit in most boat rod holders. 

These weights use a large brass cannonball downrigger eyelet to prevent corrosion and to keep the eyelet from bending or being damaged. 

These weights are typically used for deep drop fishing for snapper, tilefish, grouper, and used for sword fishing.
