This Rare Art Nouveau styled slip pottery vase is a breathtaking example of the pottery made by renown artists at the Danish Kahlers Keramiske Vaerkstad which Herman August Kahler(1846-1917) began running after taking over from his father in 1872.  This is a highly stylized, brilliantly colored rare example of classic Art Nouveau.  It is signed on the underside with the well known HAK logotype. "Danmark" is also embedded in the underside.  This is a primo example of the technique that Kahlers produced using a cow"s horn which was characteristic of the Kahler Studios use of innovative and distinctive artistic designs.    It is a semi glazed finish over stoneware slip.  There are a few stains (see pics) inside the vase which i believe to be from applying the glaze of from age.  They do not detract in any way from the beauty and condition of this piece.  I have noted some tiny "spots" around the bottom of the vase in the photos...i do not believe that they are chips, but most likely as a result of the kiln firing.  Please contact me if you want additional photos.  This piece of art will be a centerpiece of someone's collection!
