Hard-to-Find “York Special Silver” Set.

Introductory Mar Lines Freight Set on Matching 4-wheel Silver Frames.

To introduce their new four-car Mar Lines Freight Set at the April 2001 TCA Trains Show in York, Pennsylvania, Marx Trains produced a limited number of special silver-framed sets. (Later regular production sets came with black frames.)

The set features a #8401 lithographed 0-4-0 red and black loco with matching tender and Mar Lines Freight cars #7615 Milk Tank Car, #7611 Petrol Pipe Car, #7612 Friendly Fertilizer High Gondola, and a #7617 Bobber Caboose, all sitting on silver frames.

Tag on set box indicates special “SILVER” set. Includes warranty card and operating instructions.

Since this locomotive is 23 years old, I would strongly suggest proper oil and grease lubrication and reading operating instructions before attempting to run.

This loco and tender have never been on the track so they have not been tested, and therefore I can’t guarantee mechanical operation including motors, light bulbs, wiring, springs, couplers, electronics, sound and lighting boards, etc.
