Omas I Think fountain pen year 2009

Limited edition of only 1000 units! Omas dedicates this new limited edition “I Think” to the study of evolution on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of “On the Origin of Species.”

Darwin made his historic voyage aboard HMS Beagle in 1831-1836, which led to his decisive scientific discoveries in the Galapogos Islands.

The feather is adorned with engravings of the species whose various mutations led to Darwin's theory: a mockingbird perches on the crown; footprints of turtles, iguanas, lizards, flamingos, gannets and lizards “walk” through the clip. The cap ring is engraved with a DNA helix and four turns of thread surround the ends. Like HMS Beagle itself, the body of the pen is made of natural oak wood.

Limited edition of the year 2009

18K gold nib.

When, at the beginning of the 19th century, during his long voyage of exploration by sea, the great British scientist Charles Darwin began taking notes that he later used in his treatise “THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES” on the evolution of living species, he wrote the words: “I believe.”
OMAS dedicates this Limited Edition to the words “I believe” and to one of the fundamental stages of the study of the evolution of life on this 200th anniversary of the author's birth and 150th anniversary of the publication of the book.
“I think” is an act of will that puts man at the center of everything.
With a Limited Edition, OMAS underlines the fact that writing is also a fundamental aspect of the growth of civilization: it is with writing that thoughts take shape.

The gemstone parts of this pen represent Darwin's voyage across the oceans aboard the British brig HMS Beagle, which saw him make his decisive scientific discoveries in the Galapagos Islands, located 1,000 kilometers west of South America. South in the Pacific Ocean. . The route taken by HMS Beagle is faithfully reproduced in the Limited Edition tank. The fine engraving is made with the “island” technique, made with a hand-controlled pantograph, which allows extremely fine and precise lines to be drawn, tracing the continents and a naval map dating from 1800. By looking at the pen through a magnifying glass, you can read text and see details that cannot be seen with the naked eye. It is a meticulous work, suggesting how attention and investigation can discover things that are apparently not visible.
A drawing of a mockingbird has been engraved on the top of the cap: in fact, it was the different varieties of this creature found on the different islands that suggested that the mutations had occurred from a single original specimen. The same thing happened in the analysis of the other species whose tracks are reproduced in the clip: turtle, marine iguana, land iguana, lava lizard, flamingo, gannet and gecko.
On the ring of the cap is a design of the structure of “DNA”, the nucleic acid that contains genetic information, to represent the future after Darwin. In fact, its discovery was the fruit of almost a century of work by other scientists in the wake of Darwin's theories.
As well as showing the map of the voyage and HMS Beagle, the body of the fountain pen is adorned with 4 turns of hawser, the cable used to dock ships.

Charles Darwin's discoveries also came about thanks to his bravery, effort, skill and generosity and those of the men who sailed with him from 1831 to 1836. They certainly lived through hard times but also other wonderful ones such as their arrival to the Galapagos Islands, still today a natural wonder within the reach of few. The entire body of “Creo” could not be made of anything other than oak. This was the wood with which the sailing ships of the time were made and, therefore, the HMS Beagle itself.
The box is made of the same material and reproduces the “standard bearer” of the sailboats of the time.
Once again progress came through the sea and its people.
The “Creo” fountain pen is a top quality writing tool created with the technology and great experience of OMAS, a company that is almost celebrating its first century of existence.
The “Creo” Limited Edition is made in three finishes: in sterling silver (the total number of pens, 1809, represents the year of Charles Darwin's birth), 1,000-piston fountain pens, 809 Roller Ball; in 18K gold (the year formed by the two numbers, 1859, represents the year of publication of “On the Origin of Species”) 18 Roller Ball, 59 Piston fountain pens; in rose gold and diamonds (total represents Charles Darwin's date of birth: February 12, 1809) 12-piston fountain pens.
