Description

I just purchased this vintage Kanawha Glass Co. pitcher from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The Dunbar, WVa company was founded in 1957 and began producing crackle by 1960, this piece is characteristic of their 1960's production. The pitcher has a striking Mid Century Modernist form with ovoid body, dramatic flaring rim and applied loop handle. The piece is done in a bright Chartreuse color, similar to Blenko's Olive from the same time frame. The body has a tightly arranged crackle. The pitcher has a nice presence measuring 10 ¾" high, 6 ¾" from spout to handle and 7" wide at the rim. The piece retains its original silver / black foil "KANAWHA HAND CRAFTED GLASSWARE" label. The pitcher is in excellent condition with no damage, there is a pinhead production submerged bit of silica. This fun Kanawha crackle pitcher would make a nice addition to your collection of vintage West Virginia art glass or Mid Century Modern inspired décor.
