Here we have my 15ft Fletcher GTO Speedboat
I have owned this boat for 3 years now. Each summer in Poole has been filled with fun & laughter whilst out on the sea. It really is a whole new world out there & no traffic lights lol.
Due to the size & engine this allows a person to run a boat on a suitable budget without the massive servicing & outlay for inboards & larger boats. I keep it in my rear garden whilst stored for the winter where I can tinker with any upgrades or servicing it may need.
Good bits plus what things cost new
* Hull is sound considering age. £1500
* Engine runs smoothly, I serviced it once bought & timed her up to provide best performance & power. These are old school engines (1989) are bullett proof that can be easily maintained & tinkered with by a novice, full owners manual included. New Mercury engines for an 80 will be 10K
* Full electric/hydraulic engine tilt.
* Full silver heavy duty cover for winter/storage.
* Deck has been completely re fitted as the old one was past it. A lot of work has gone into the deck to much to list but rest assured its got another 15 - 20 years in it. Gaboon marine ply deck. £1000
* New gauges to update the dash. £150
* 5 HP engine for rescue when needed. £250
* Trailer is as good as new with spare wheel, the wheels are sealed bearings so no water gets inside. £1900 no rust
* Locking trailer wheel clamp with lock also for tow hitch. £200
* Rear ladder on boat . £100
* Water skis plus 3 Ringos £500
* Four blade prop & Quicksilver (RRP£500) 3 blade (faster) included in sale £700.
* Anchors, muffs,fuel tanks, updated seats, rear light panel, oars, oils, other small spares. £300
So new approx £6800
Not so good bits
Boat runs fine but at full speed leans slightly left. It never concerned me as choppy water sets the boat correct etc & did a lot of cruising up river etc. If I were keeping it I would get Trim Tabs for top speed stability they are about £200 on ebay, once set your good to go.
Boats are not fuel efficient in any way, expects to fork out on fuel. £45 would last a day for me. Inboard 3 litre expect 3 x & much harder to service.
Boat engines need looking after expect servicing costs & storage.
You'll of course need a tow hitch or could deliver for fee
