Merchant advertising token Circa 1850's, Loder & Company Dry Goods Merchants of New York, M-NY-467. Silvered Brass, Choice Uncirculated, certified NGC MS-64. A bright example, one tiny Obverse stain likely all keeping it from certifying a Gem. Two MS-64 shown in the NGC Census, however NGC's population statistics for this series must be taken with a grain of salt. They seem to have certified a number of pieces prior to establishing the Census, thus not all certified pieces are listed. For instance, in this case I was able to trace 2 other sales of unique MS-64 examples, those two other tokens not being shown in the Population. One MS-65 and two MS-67 higher, so this example is at the distal end of the Condition Census for the variety (ignore the “Pop Top” sticker shown in the slab image, as it is an old one). For reference, an MS-63 example sold at Heritage 9/2017 for $420 (ex-Virgil Brand); one of the MS-64 examples sold at $253, however that was a 2007 sale so not terribly relevant today. While my price may be seen as being a bit speculative, I believe this specimen stands on its own merits.
