ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is an antique HUNTER style pocket watch by Thomas Russell & Son in a gold plated case.
The watch has a nice white enamel dial with the Thos Russell & Son, Liverpool trademark.
The inside of the case is marked The "Russell" Model by the Illinois Watch Case Co. The case is marked on all three pieces with the number 3658276.
The movement inside is also marked Thos. Russell & Son, Liverpool with serial number 39045.
It is in working condition.
It is a crown wind and when wound the balance wheel moves ticking, I have NOT kept time on it as it will not have been wound in donkeys years. From a deceased estate.
Both case hinges are good and fit well and no gaping. The suspension loop the gold plating has worn of it the most.
The enamel dial has a large CRACK running right through the centre from the 1 to the 7 areas.
Other than that its a nice clean watch.
For those that do not know how the front opens so you can see the time - gently depress the top of the CROWN winder and the front of the case pops open. The back case and inner dust cover you will need a gentle hand and a sharp fine knife blade to pop in and they hinge open too. Be careful if you have never done this as you could damage the metal case or worse still end up in A&E ! I would suggest you watch a youTube video on how to get into a pocket watch safely first. .
