This is an original Antique Bronze Lime Pot Container from Thailand.  Historically Artisans would make these elaborate vessels for the storage of lime paste used in the chewing of betel nut.  This rustic piece conservatively dates from the beginning of the 19th Century to the end of the 20th Century.  Please note the lid of the container fits quite well.  Most of my inventory was purchased in Bangkok's well known antique district bordered by Silom / Surawong Road in the early 1970's by my father. I believe the Pot was most likely purchased at Anna's Antiques or Peng Seng, two very reputable Bangkok Antique dealers at that time.  The purchase was made during one of his numerous buying trips for his Antique Shop that was originally located at the Rasa Sayang Resort in Penang, Malaysia.
