Pair of salt and pepper shakers hand made by Washington artist Debbie Fecher Gramstad, part of her "Insane Asylum" series featuring all kinds of bizarre characters. These two are a man and woman and I am not sure who they are supposed to be but they are both very detailed in their sculpting and painting. The man reminds me of Albert Einstein with his thick mustache and crazy hair. The woman measures about 7 1/2" tall and the man just a bit shorter than that and they are both about 2" across the base. As shakers, they have the 3 little holes on the backs of their heads and little cork stoppers in their bases. They are also both signed by the artist and dated "83." I would say they are both in excellent condition...they have a lot of unfinished edges and irregularities, and a few faint little brown stains or scuffs, but these little things all look original to the pieces. Both have that unglazed bisque finish to their bodies. The woman has a 1/4" nick on the bottom that could be a little flake, but I'm not really sure (last photo)...and if it is, you can not see it when the piece is standing upright. If you are looking at this listing, then you are probably a collector and know more than I do, so you will be able to evaluate these better than I can!
