A rare and original 1963 Hofner 500/1 violin bass imported and sold by Selmer in the UK.

An original beatle bass though this of course is right handed. Lovely to hold and so light. A real treasure.

Complete with all original Hofner parts and electronics all native to this bass.

Beautiful original C shaped neck profile same as McCartney played on all the beatle albums.

Neck set still original and has never been reset.

Has the Hofner Decal which were fazed out in 1963.

Original long curved Tail piece and original tuners.

Original Selmer serial number 132 stamped on the back of the head-stock.

Potentiometers (POTs) codes on the control panel are 293  (29th week of 1963)

Has a few small indentations / scratches or marks here and there but this is usual for a 61 year old wooden Bass. Condition is excellent.

All electronics are original and are working. Control panel shows this has never been de-soldiered or messed around with and has matching POT codes.

All completely original finish which is very important for the sound. No touch ups or resprays or re-varnishing.

Pick ups still original. All frets original. All completely original.

Original "mother of pearl" pick guard and not a reproduction which is nice as these usually get lost through the years.

Playability, all strings play cleanly with no buzzing every note up the scale still keeping a very low action.

Similar ones are going / have gone for £8-12K on this and other guitar sales sites.

This is a bargain and an excellent investment if nothing else.

Welcome to come and test.

Postage seems high but will refund if cheaper and pay the rest if more.

Comes with original Selmer tweed case

Priced to sell as on an eBay sellers promotion so won't be around long!
