Hello friends,

This is a new Davis Brothers knife, a Wood Carving Small detail Knife. It's the second rendition of a new design in the G.L.K. (Great Little Knife) series I've been making lately.  It was made with slightly thicker steel than others in this series for extra strength in the very slender blade. It has a long and up curved Scimitar shape and tapers to a fine point. This knife has a beautiful compact Teak handle with really nice feel in your hand and a slim shape at the front of the handle for delicate control. You will want it close to hand in your knife rack, and will reach for it frequently. It was hand forged by a carver, for carvers, right here on the Pacific Northwest Coast.  Davis Bros., well known for high quality hand forged NW Coast style woodcarving tools, will make a limited number of some favorites.  We make a wide selection of Crook or Crooked knives, Detail knives and Hook knives, as well as Chip Carving and Whittling knives.  Detail knives  are used in accompaniment with crook knives, as well as chip carving and other  stock removal knives.

SAFETY FIRST! : This blade is extremely sharp. Please use caution when removing from the packaging. Always be aware of where  you are cutting, and do not put hands, fingers or other parts of your body in the path of the blade.  Always wear a cut-resistant carving glove on the hand not holding the knife.  And please keep this knife safely away from children.

AUCTION DETAILS: I make 5-7 knives each week and put them up for auction on Saturday evening starting at 5:00 PM. Pacific time. The auctions are staggered, with one every 10 minutes, to allow customers to view each one in sequence. The previous week's auctions are ending at the same time, with 10 minutes between to allow last minute bidding on each one. In addition to the auctions, each knife has a "Buy It Now" price to allow immediate purchase. The "Buy It Now" option ends for each knife when a bid is placed on it.

WORKMANSHIP:  Each knife is unique and hand crafted, with no automated processes used in the more than 30 machining, forging and woodworking tasks for each one.  Some very fine tool marks may be visible on the knives. I do not attain absolute machine-like perfection, but strive to combine art, beauty and utility.  The look and feel of this tool when held is beautiful, smooth, and inspires the work at hand.

BLADE: It was made using 1095 high carbon blade steel, ground to shape then forged, refined and hardened.  It  was then tempered to keep a durable, keen edge and is extremely sharp. The blade profile is gently curved along the cutting edge which makes it suitable for many carving an whittling tasks.

HANDLE:  The handle is Teak from Thailand, with a milk chocolate brown color with darker grain patterns, unusual in Teak.  This handle style is one of our shorter, with a comfortable palm grip while still allowing it to be directed with precision. It has a really nice feel in your hand is great for maintaining accurate control. It is finished with hand rubbed Shellac, a benign finish that accents the color and grain and is very durable.

CONSTRUCTION:  This knife is 7" overall, with a 2 1/4" long blade, only 1/4" wide, tapering over it's length with an  up curved Scimitar shape and extra fine curved tip.  The blade is set with epoxy and further secured with two bronze rivets.

CARVING CHARACTERISTICS: I made a similar blade many years ago, and have found it useful innumerable times and decided to replicate it for sale. This is one of the more compact handles in my GLK series and feels great in the hand.  This blade excels at creation and cleanup of intricate detail work. With a double bevel edge, this knife can be used with either hand. The long curved blade will fit into recesses and tight spots that are impossible for larger blades, and the slightly rounded tip allows smooth curving cuts to be incised. It works well for delicate cuts and fine details, and at the end of carving to get the final details cleaned up.  The blade has plenty of strength for these tasks, but should not be used for prying. Please take care to preserve the extra fine tip. For best performance, when sharpening this tool both sides should be sharpened.

SHIPPING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE: I charge only what the Postal Service fee is on an average shipment for that weight, with no additional handling fees. I have several auctions running each week, and will gladly combine shipping to save you money. Wait for the combined invoice if you have multiple purchases/wins.   I offer a 30 day return policy and will personally work to resolve any issues.  I strive for Quality and Customer Satisfaction.
