A stunning late Victorian 18ct gold mourning ring, presented in its period H.Samuel box.

Fully hallmarked Chester 1898 with manufacturers mark 'WGM' for Walter George Matthews, of Hockley Street, Birmingham.

Intriguingly for collectors, bears an engraved memorial description to inner band, reading:

'My Dear Father, April 27th, 1899' followed by 'My Dear Mother, May 7th 1907'.

The engravings are in different script/style  and tell us the beloved daughter of this couple wore this ring in memory of both her parents; having lost her father first, then her mother 8 years later. A true family mourning ring.

Beautifully designed with the classic black enamel backdrop, inset with 10 seed pearls to symbolise tears and of course the words, 'In Memory Of' picked out in gold.

Approx ring size: UK O /  US 7.5

Weight: 3.67gms.

In good antique condition; good sturdy band; surface wear commensurate with age & use.

Please see all the photos for clear detail.

A wonderful example for collectors and in a very wearable size for today.
