is easy to install. You remove the key lock cylinder out of the column. See photo diagram.  

Lock Cylinder is easily removed. You must have the key to the lock you are removing. Turn key to the on position. Use a large Paper clip size wire ( i unfold the paper clip) to poke in the small hole on top of housing. This will release the spring wedge on the lock cylinder and it will pop out.

Then this simply slides off. After removing wiring connector.

Here is the relearn procedure for a chevy Cobalt.

Do your research for your model application before purchase.

Follow it exactly to see if your vehicle starts and runs. This is the only quick option (it works if there are no faults with any theft components). Dealer programing might be needed if relearn fails.

30-Minute Vehicle Key Relearn

1. With your key, turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

2. Observe the security indicator, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.

3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes. Important: The (TDM)learns the key transponder information upon the ignition switch transition from OFF to ON. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

5. With your key, start the vehicle. If this worked the vehicle will start and run now.
