An excellent and rare example of an original, vintage, panel stitched linen British Civil Air Service or British Civil Aviation ensign flag from the 1940s or 1950s.

With heavy canvas hoist hem and original rope and wooden toggle, this ensign was in use from 1931 until 1957.

Approximately 8ft 9in x 4ft 8in or 265cm x 140cm, a traditional 3-yard size in outstanding condition for its age.  Hardly used, clean and with vibrant colours, no fraying to the Fly end, it had remained in storage for several years. There are a few historic moth nips to the fabric. See photos.

Part of a consignment of international flags made by Excelsior Flags Ltd and supplied to Whiteleys of Bayswater during the 1940s and early 1950s. Photos of some of the original correspondence available to view if required.

This is one of several National, Marine, Wartime and other collectable flags, burgees, pennants and bunting that I'm listing.  Please scroll through my seller's list for more or call 07484 689158 for more information or if there are any specific flags you require, there are many more not listed.
