This exceptional British tray of the 1820's-30's features delicately spool-turned handles and stripe-work inlays of alternating thick cut satinwood and rosewood.  The surface is very old and possibly original French polish and the tray measures 4" to the top of the handles; 2 1/4" x 10 1/4" x 8" body of tray proper.  The tray has a Richard Norton, Inc. provenance and displays a crack to the underlying wood of the bottom which is NOT visible on the interior of the tray.  You will note an area of veneer loss on the top edge under one of the handles.
