This heavily constructed and stylish picture frame of the 1950's features boldly molded French Louis XV details in gesso (on wood) painted in chalky white and accented in bronze powder paint.  Measuring 19" x 23" overall with 12 1/4" x 16 1/4" reveal and 13 1/4" x 17 1/4" back rabbet opening, it has a notably soiled fabric liner that will need to be painted or re-covered.  The back opening with the fabric liner removed is 14 1/4" x 18 1/4" and there is no gesso loss.  You will note miter shadows in the heavy gesso custom corners and areas of verdigris in the bronze-gold where it encountered moisture.  The frame is sturdy and usable with an angled back as pictured.
