You are buying The Story of Jack Ballister’s Fortunes text & art by Howard Pyle, Being the Narrative of te Adventures of a Young Gentleman of good Family, Who was Kidnapped in the Year 1719 and Carried to the Plantations of the Continent of Virginia, where He fell in with that Famous Pirate Captain Edward Teach, or Blackbeard: of His Escape from the Pirates and the Rescue of a Young Lady form out their Hands. The Century Co., New York published the book, copyright 1895. This is a first edition. The interior is in very good condition. There are no tears. Attach to the front left end paper is Truman W. Lewis’s bookplate, and near the top right corner is his blind stamped library seal. The cover is in fine condition. The clear  archival plastic dust jacket, supplied by a former owner, is in fine condition. The publisher’s dust jacket is missing. The book is 6 1/8” X 8 3/8” tall and 420 pages. There are 14 b & w illustrations by Howard Pyle.
