Underwood Standard Portable Typewriter & Case.

Made in USA in 1929, according to its serial number 463247.

Attic find, so sold as seen as not working, although it seems to be partially working. When I first opened the case the carriage wasn't advancing, but after hitting a few keys it began to start moving, but is a bit intermittent. Please refer to the video. As you can see some keys are sticky and a few don't work. The video shows most of the letters and it's the same for the numbers. The number "6" key is wonky, but does still work. One or two of the typebars don't sit flush with the rest. The internal parts are dusty and don't look like they've been lubricated or serviced for decades.

The overall condition is typical of a 95 year old, almost antique item. Most of the decals are actually pretty good for their age. For me, the most interesting thing about the typewriter is the wood effect paint finish with faux wood grain detail, which seems to be very rare. The paint is in fairly good condition with some chips, mostly on the back. The only obvious thing missing I can see is the ink ribbons. The case is dusty and has no key. The leather handle is mostly intact apart from the perishing padding underneath. Please study all of the photos for the condition as these form part of the description.

This would make a lovely display piece or prop once cleaned, or possibly a nice restoration project for someone with the knowledge.

It will be very well packed and sent by Royal Mail Tracked service within the UK, or via Ebay's Global Shipping Programme for international bidders.
