Born a simple peasant in northern Italy, Baudolino has two major gifts - learning languages and telling lies.
In April 1204, as Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire, is being sacked and burned, Baudolino saves a historian and high court official from certain death at the hands of the invaders and proceeds to tell his own fantastical story.

A 1st edition hardback, the book is in very good condition with an inscription and stamp inside. (See pic.)
