Handmade drawn thread lace called Punto Tirato and hand embroidered

Circa 1920’s made in Italy

Drawn thread lace is made from woven linen. the threads are removed from the woven cloth by the lace maker to form patterns of open spaces. Then hand embroidery is done around and through the spaces where the threads have been removed. Hours and hours of intricate handwork.

This design is spectacular with squares and scrolls and gorgeous tiny squared edges.

The placemats measure 10” x 15”

The napkins measure 16” x 16”

Unused, the only issue is two of the napkins, have a mark where they have been taped, and this would need to be addressed see the last picture for this
