For sale here is this large French striking mantel clock, depicting the Roman goddess Diana The Huntress (the Greek version is Artemis) with her bow and quiver and her greyhound by her side. The goddess has copper skin and her robe is patinated in a bronze colour, as is her hunting dog. The rest of the case is finished in a mixture of copper and the bronze colour. Parts of the case are spelter and parts are copper. The face has enamel numbers, in burnt orange on white.

This very large and impressive antique clock strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. It was made by Vincenti & Cie of Montbeliard, France. Vincenti's Medaille d'Argent 1855 mark is stamped on the back of the movement, which dates the clock to between 1855 and 1867. The serial number is 401. The clock movement is protected by a hinged glass door.

The clock measures approximately 18 1/2 inches high, 18 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches deep. The clock has been checked over and oiled. It is working well and comes with a pendulum and key. The case is in good antique condition with some damage to the metal at the back (at the centre of the bottom edge) and wear to the bronze finish. This is a substantial clock which weighs around 6.92kg (unpacked).

Antique and vintage clocks may require to be set up and put into beat again after transport. Firstly, the clock must be on a level surface to run properly. Sometimes, slight adjustments have to be made after transit to get the clock running properly in its new position. I am happy to advise you on how to do this, either by email or phone. I can help you with making any adjustments required, but I am not responsible for this. Alternatively, if you are unsure about adjusting the clock yourself you can enlist expert help.
