Presented is a great small satsuma pottery vase with hand painted scenes. This
piece was made between 1890-1920s. The decorations display two scenes on
either side of three boys holding weapons and scrolls. The other areas
displays delicate patterns which match the decorations around the neck. The
paintings have many dotted elements that have a raised texture. Many of the decoration is gilded with a bright gold.
There are two small characters on the bottom of the piece which is either a
maker's mark or a product identification mark.
The vase is in great overall condition. There is craqueature in the glaze
throughout the piece. This does not affect use of the vase. The painted elements
are mostly crisp with bold colors. There are no breaks and no repairs.
