ANTIQUE BRITISH INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD, 1892 PATTERN

The last of the gothic style brass guard variations, a pattern which had first been introduced in 1822, and continued with minor variations until finally replaced in 1895 with a new steel guard.

A straight thrusting blade, partially double edged, spear point, with deep fuller on each side.

A very good example, with nicely etched blade, and complete with steel scabbard, with two narrow bands and two rings.

Totally 100% authentic.

Proof disc has the “T” in the centre; the ferule complete with groves; proper shoulder between ricasso and fuller; no bulge to leather grip.

See Brian Robson's classic "Swords of the British Army."
