ANTIQUE BRITISH INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD,
1892 PATTERN
The last of the gothic style brass guard
variations, a pattern which had first been introduced in 1822, and continued
with minor variations until finally replaced in 1895 with a new steel guard.
A straight thrusting blade, partially
double edged, spear point, with deep fuller on each side.
Total length 930mm (36 ½ inches).
A
very good example, with nicely etched blade, and complete with steel scabbard,
with two narrow bands and two rings.
Totally 100% authentic.
Proof
disc has the “T” in the centre; the ferule complete with groves; proper
shoulder between ricasso and fuller; no bulge to leather grip.
