Antique Brigg gadget cane. Stepped bamboo shaft with hidden pencil holder of 18k gold with London hallmarks.


Often called a bookmakers cane as they always had a pencil on hand to record the bets with.


The gold pencil holder sits on the top just below the curvature of the handle and is held in an 18k stamped gold case.


The makers mark is for Charles Cooke for the retailer Brigg of London is stamped on the side of pencil holder that is 2" long. And weighs 6 grams. Not sure how big and how much the pencil well is as it is attached to the cane it self.


The stepped bamboo shaft is 31.5" inches long. Straight and sturdy. It does have an age crack on the inward side of shaft, but still solid. Original steel tip ferrule.
