Offered here is the third of four Watercolour Paintings we are offering by J Geldard Walton . He was born in the nineteenth Century and painted Yorkshire Coastal scenes . He is a listed and accomplished artist .

Most of his paintings are Marine or Maritime scenes with different nautical vessels .

This picture is a Signed Watercolour Painting of a rescue attempt of a shipwreck in high seas off the Yorkshire Coast . It is believed this is somewhere near Ravenscar , Scarborough or perhaps as far North as Whitby . ( We are offering another similar picture where the rescuers are watching the worsening scene before they attempt a rescue ) .

It bears his signature and is dated 1901 , it features the shipwrecked vessel a Sailing Boat , as well as a steamboat in the background . There are 5 rescuers or Fishermen trying to pull the ship ashore with a rope , they are struggling to keep it off the rocks / cliff .

There is a lot going on in the painting and it is extremely atmospheric .

He is an accomplished artist and this is very well executed with great colours and proportions .

It comes in a black frame with Gold highlighting and banding . The entire piece measures 26.25 inches x 10 inches .

The other 2 paintings we are offering by this artist come in matching frames .

This is not glazed it has light wear .

Good Luck .
