They were Furniture makers and Decorators . This was made by the Carvers and was in their boardroom . It was carved over 120 years ago.

The carving is Museum Quality . The letters are 3 Dimensional and are from the Arts and Crafts period featuring leaves and berries in the background.

The letters have been highlighted in gold gilt lettering . The Gilding is still present .

This Sign is freestanding and is made to stand on a flat surface .

Taylor & Hobson Ltd. was a furniture making and interior decorating company with offices at 26 New Street, Huddersfield. 

The Company was registered in 1899 — superseding the cabinet making firm of Alfred Taylor & Sons (est. 1851) — and is sometimes named as Alfred Taylor & Hobson Ltd.

An invoice from 1907 described their services as including:

A newspaper advertisement from 1915 described them as "cabinet makers, upholsterers, and carpet merchants".

The business was still in existence in the 1950s.

John William Taylor of Glen Hohr, Gledholt, Huddersfield, was linked to the company.

The entire piece measures 43.5 inches x 7 inches tall and it is 6 inches deep .
