1929 POPEYE DIME BANK WITH 1949 POPEYE & OLIVE OYL WHITMAN LITTLE BOOK
Going to the highest bidder is this authentic Popeye Dime
Register Bank manufactured by King Features along with a genuine Popeye Better
Little Book published by Whitman Publishing Company in 1949.
The Dime Bank is made of lithographed tin, locks on insertion
of the first dime and automatically unlocks when $5 is reached. It still retains its vibrant colors on both
front and back and was produced in the United States in 1929.
The Better Little Book (#1458) titled “Popeye And Queen
Oliver Oyl,” is an storybook written by Bud Sagendorf with cartoon illustrations
throughout and a colorful cover.
We’re not experts in Popeye memorabilia or ephemera but these two items appear in good to fair condition for their age.
The bank, which apparently
already holds a few dimes locked way in its chamber, shows a bit of wear on the
edges but has no dents or discernable damage and appears to be good working condition.
The Better Little Book shows some noticeable wear on the cover
and spine as well as the opening pages but is still tightly bound, retains all
of its 286 illustrated pages and appears in fair condition at best.
