RARE 1953 Swedish Commemorative Silver Brooch Rörstrand Art Pottery Brooch IFBPW.
The front reads IFBPW 6th Congress , there is also a Signature Monogram incorporating the letters BRW , Iam not sure what this represents .
There is a building where I guess the Congress was held , and the word Stockholm July 1953 , which is clearly the date and venue that this is advertising or commemorating.
I have seen one of these before , but I have never seen one in its original silver mount and made into a brooch.
This was made for the International Federation of Business and Professional Women .
It is a fabulous piece of Mid Century Scandinavian Memorabilia , and is very collectable . It will appeal to people who collect commemorative and advertising wares from Sweden , anyone interested in mid century or 1950s design and jewellery , or collectors of Rörstrand Pottery .
It is of obvious interest to anyone who promotes and collects anything to do with women’s movements.
This is in nice condition .it is set in a Solid Silver Mount . The front of the plaque is in excellent condition . It has age related crazing . The brooch is clearly stamped on the reverse , this reads Rörstrand Sweden .There is a circular mark in the back of the brooch which has a strange central piece that is either glazed clay or something else , I am not really sure what it is , it doesn’t detract from the piece.
