ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is an antique framed front page of The Durham County Advertiser, and Commercial, Agricultural, and Literary Journal.
Says it is the First newspaper between York and Newcastle.
This is No. 662 dated Saturday May 12, 1827 and it cost 7 pence.
It has been embossed stamped at the top with a four pence stamp.
Not sure why it's been framed, it must have been a significant date for someone.
Some interesting articles to read on it actually BARNARD CASTLE NATIONAL SCHOOL - CONTRACTS FOR COALS & CANDLES - CHOPPINGTON MANOR to be sold with COAL SEAMS on all its land - PANN BREWERY at MONKWEARMOUTH - SOUND LIST which has Captains and Ships named.
It may be a COMPLETE newspaper of the period with only printed on both sides and no more pages. I don't know.
NOTE - I will be taking it OUT of the frame to send it to you, if you want the frame you can come to my actual antique shop and collect it from me at Leevintiques in Bedale, North Yorkshire.
