In 1969, Charles Wing Krafft began keeping a daily journal of his life with the hope that someday, his experiences would be turned into a  book that he could “read in his old age.” This was a practice he kept up for thirty years, writing almost daily until 2007; Charles died in 2020. In addition to his daily log, he also wrote poetry and added many drawings and paintings never seen before.

The journals describe his adventures in India, Europe, Slovenia and Bosnia; and his experiences with notable artists and writers of the next three decades, such as: Northwest Mystics Guy Anderson and Morris Graves, hot rod pin-striper Von Dutch, NSK artist collective, publisher Adam Parfrey, William Burroughs, Gregory Corso, filmmaker Kenneth Anger (who became a “pen pal” in the 1990s) and many others.

This book is a unique look at an artist’s evolution from the spiritual to the political, and allows the reader to draw their own conclusions about the legacy of this controversial artist and writer.
