Japanese Meiji Period Minogame Turtle Sake / Wine Pot c.1800
This is a Japanese glazed pottery sake pot in the form of a minogame / turtle, Edo period circa 1800. The minogame in folklore was able to live up to 10,000 years & represented longevity & wisdom. Drinking from this pot would then impart the same longevity & wisdom from the wine to the recipient.
CONDITION a hairline at the narrow end of the handle where it meets the body of the vessel but the handle is solid - as per images
The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
