17th Century Relief Carved Walnut Panel - Beheading John the Baptist

This is an excellent 17th century relief carved wood panel, probably Walnut, depicting the beheading of John the Baptist. Believed to be French, Languedoc region. The scene & the frame are carved as one, there are two sections joined horizontally to make up the panel

The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
