WoW,  here I'm offering possibly the earliest food tin I've come across. I'n not an expert but believe this to be from the 1800s. Civil war era?  late 1800s? I'm not sure. Please look at all the images and decide for your self.  Some of the writing isn't clear, so I'll do my best to type what the label says.  Most of the writing is clear as shown in the photos.      So this is a SELECT COUNCIL TOMATOES.  tin, packed at Hartford Co Maryland.   EAGLE PACKING CO.   "these tomatoes of.....first quality. They are canned on the spot where grown and prepared so carefully nothing but selected tomatoes are used, Every can is guaranteed to give satisfaction".     This food tin would be a fine addition to any early food tin collection. Good luck bidding!   Really nice Eagle graphic on the side as shown in the images.
