Genuine Edwardian corset circa 1880-1920's from a large collection saved from Richard Cooper & Co of Ashbourne, Derbyshire (founded in 1855) and Chil-Tex (founded in Ashbourne in 1969). In 1999, Coopers became part of Chil-Tex Ltd and Chil-Tex closed in 2004. These corsets were saved from disposal when the two factories merged into one and as such are all new deadstock.

This delightful light weight single layer corset is two tone giving an effect of stripes conjuring up images of the Edwardian

Very good condition. Some small areas of rust on the body of the corset. Note this one has no laces so the laces being sent with this corset are modern cotton ecru ones. The posts of this one have a fair bit of rust on them.

23" waist on tightest lacing will accommodate wider if there is a bigger gap in the back.

Corset Sizing:

Very generally, find your natural waist by bending to the side and measure around at this point with a tape measure being sure not to pull too tight. Opinions differ on this and it is important to do your own research.

PLEASE NOTE.

Anything over 80 years I would err on the side of caution and select slightly larger than a more modern equivalent just because anything of this age will not endure such rigorous lacings.

As to the gap at the back where the lacing is, some suggest a small gap of 1-2" at the back but a bigger gap is fine and open to personal preference. Take the gap into consideration when deciding on a size. There is much out there about corset sizing and you may want to read up further before deciding on a size. Underbust corsets are not dependant on bust sizes.
