This small trinket box is made of exquisite sterling silver (.925) and features a stunning abalone design on the lid. Its hinged design adds to its vintage charm and is perfect for storing small treasures. The age of this piece is unknown, but its beauty and craftsmanship are timeless. It would make a great addition to any collection of antique or sterling silver items.

The red felt paper linning is worn.  It reminds me of late 1940s or early 50s style.  and it could use a little restoration and cleaning  all around.

The feet appear to be copper

I melt and refine scrap, but this is just too nice and unique to destroy.

It is marked made in Mexico [Hech MEX]

Before 1980 there was no standard hallmark in Mexico.  My experience and basic acid test tell.me this is sterling silver.   You can see the acid mark on the inside of lid

I think there is about one oz of silver.
