Impressive Antique Japanese Meiji Mixed Metal Brass Bronze Urn Vase Planter

Presented is a lovely antique Japanese Meiji period mixed metal urn or vase,
dating to circa 1880-1900. The piece is made in a round bodied form, standing on
three legs on an attached round pedestal base. The urn has fabulous mixed metal
work around the side in copper, different patinas of bronze, and gold gilt,
depicting lifelike flowers, leaves, and birds. The work is all quite detailed
and well done. The upper body has two ear form handles with full figural oni
form masks where they join the body, cast in a very appealing and detailed way.
The base as well as the sides of the handles are both nicely inlaid with floral
and Chinese key type designs. If this piece had a lid, it is no longer present,
but it is still quite useable as a planter or vase or simply for display on its
own.

This piece is in great overall condition. Some minor losses to the gilding or
bronze patinas here and there. There are no splits, no dents, no cracks, no
breaks, and no repairs.

This piece stands about 12 1/2 inches tall at the handles or about 11 1/4
inches at the rim, and measures about 6 3/4 inches wide.
