- There are few things sweeter than listening to the effortless, instinctual harmonizing of siblings, and while Indianapolis-based sisters Lily and Madeleine Jurkiewicz have a ways to go before they reach Everly or Carter stature, they most certainly are on par with their Swedish dopplegangers, teen folk sensations First Aid Kit. Like Johanna and Klara S”derberg, the Jurkiewicz's prefer the atmospheric, retro indie folk of Fleet Foxes and Laura Marling over OneRepublic, though they're not so jaded that they don't identify with Taylor Swift. Not surprisingly, each of the five tracks on their excellent debut EP The Weight of the Globe (there are actually ten songs, but five are just acoustic versions) deal with love and heartache, two things that weigh their heaviest in youth, yet the melodic twists and turns that propel them suggest a diverse musical catechism that ultimately lends standout cuts like the languid and lovely "In the Middle" and the deviously upbeat "Things I'll Later Lose" the kind of weathered patina of nostalgia that usually accompanies the work of infinitely more seasoned singers and songwriters. ~ James Christopher Monger
