London: A Portrait of A City compiled by Robert Hudson and published by The Folio Society in 1998, is a superb volume featuring accounts of London from various contributors, including Saxon kings through to Lord Byron. The book traces the history of this important city from Roman times to the present day and includes over a 150 illustrations the majority of which are in colour.


Gorgeous book for interest, especially for anyone researching London, or as a coffee table or bookshelf beauty. It is a quarter tan cloth with paper boards printed with a painting by Charles Robert Cockrell, A Tribute to Christopher Wren, 1838.


The Folio Society was founded in 1947 by Charles Ede, Christopher Sandford of the Golden Cockerel Press and Alan Bott founder of Pan Books.The firms goal was to produce editions of the worlds great literature in a format of the contents.
