Guinness Promotional London Omnibus Bottle Crate. c.1965.

Guinness was founded in 1759 and has been a leader in beverage advertising for 250 years.

It is appropriate that this crate is based on a London Omnibus from the 1920s. Across the back of this pub/shop promotional bottle crate reads "Guinness is Good For you" a slogan introduced in 1929 as doctors thought Guinness had medicinal properties. Even until the 1950s mothers in Irish hospitals were given Guinness after giving birth because of the high iron content.

The Guinness wordmark on this crate is in the first Hobbs typeface introduced in the early 1960s which changed to a bolder format in 1968. Therefore it dates to around 1965.
