Presented is an antique, sterling silver serving spoon made by Whiting during the late 19th century. This piece is in the New Japanese pattern, which was patented in 1874 and it is old, original production. The front of the handle is beautifully designed with a raised decoration of a fancy bird and leaves over a stippled background. The bowl has a matte finish. 

The back is marked for Whiting, sterling silver purity and patent 1874. 

This piece is in excellent overall condition and the designs are crisp. The spoon has never been monogrammed and there is very minimal surface wear.
