This is a listing for my Francis Barnett Falcon 87. First registered in 1962, this is the AMC ‘20T’ engined variant / 199cc two stroke, with 4-speed gearbox.
Centre stand but no side stand as this was optional when new.
Original frame and engine, as confirmed by the genuine buff log book which is in my possession. Bike has V5 in my name, and is historic class so MOT / tax exempt. Reg no. 230DXL is transferable.
It looks to have had a light restoration at some point, with new wheels, tyres and exhaust, hence the overall condition of the chrome work.
It starts readily and runs like clockwork. Brakes are present and correct for a bike of this era, back brake is better than I expected when I first rode this bike. Goes up and down the gearbox fine.
Mileage is approx. 32,000, which is consistent with MOT records going back to 2006 (last MOT in 2017).
Paint work is nice and original. Some stone chips to forks and the odd scratch on the front mudguard and a couple of small scratches on the tank near the head stock so not too conspicuous.
Front / rear lights all work (headlamp includes pilot light and main headlight with dipped and main beam, but no instrument cluster bulb).
Engine loses a few drops of oil when standing, as is common with Brit bikes of this vintage.
Speedo fluctuates a bit as speed increases, so I have been using a cycle GPS computer for greater accuracy in this speed-camera era.
No ulterior motive for selling other than I have decided that classic bikes are not for me and have gone back to a modern bike instead. I have enjoyed riding this bike most on quiet country roads, and it easily travels at 40 to 50mph, a bit more if required so is ready to ride.
Collection only, located in PE7 / Whittlesey Cambs area.
