This German Silver change purse/dance purse is from the early 1900s.

The purse itself measures 3" long (including bail), 1 1/2" wide, and 1/2" deep.  Traditional Edwardian repousse designs cover both sides of the piece, including flowers, leaves, and a shield. The inside has holders for dimes and nickels, and the lid is deep enough to hold a bill or two.

The purse hangs from a necklace of faceted crystal stones in prong settings. It is very long, measuring 26" long with a 2 1/2" drop. The crystals are graduating in size - small ( 8.3mm) to large (12.6mm) - the largest in front of the piece of the necklace.  This amazing necklace is still in mint condition with no cracks, scratches or other damage.

The compact is marked "German Silver on the inside. There is a push button at the top to open it -  it opens easily and shuts with a snap. The finish is a bit worn in places, but it does not take away from its beauty.
