British pop singer (May 5, 1944 - March 22, 2008). Bastow, who was later nicknamed "Ginge," was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK. His family relocated to Australia when he was four years old. As a teenager, Bastow sang in clubs, on the radio and on TV. In November 1966, he was singing at the coastal holiday resort "Surfers' Paradise," where he was discovered by The Shake Spears who were touring there. In need of a singer they took Bastow with them back to Belgium.
