M1951 Entrenching Tool   Manufactured by Ames in 1968 and appears to be in new, un-issued condition with the associated nicks and bumps that appear since then.  Metal displays no pitting under the paint and the wood to metal fit is tight.  Doubt this has ever seen dirt as the leading edge of the spade is as sharp as when it left the factory.   Unusual in that the metal surfaces are painted black instead of olive drab as is the handle.  But it is what it is.

I’m an older collector who has decided it is time to start moving some of the collection.  These items are from a non-smoking, pet free and central air/heat environment.  Please ask any questions in advance of the auction as the sale is final.
