This is a small antique oval wooden box in the original black paint and decoupage decorated with a bird on the lid and flowers around the sides, circa 1800 to 1825, or so, and New England in origin. The box is made with bent thin maple sides with pine oval top and bottom. It is 4 1/4” long and 1 3/4” high. The rim and bottom both have decorative embossed brass bands applied around the box, and there is a 4” piece missing from the top band, as pictured. Otherwise it is in good original condition. The bird looks like a robin. These little oval boxes were used for several different things and were common in early households. This was just found in New England. Shipping is $4.00 Retail Groundmail. There is a 30 day money back inspection period, and email for more information. Thank you.
